About the funding programme

The Ecosystem Coldharbour Micro Grants Programme has been set up to support local grassroots organisations and unincorporated community groups to enable them to respond over time to the changing needs of local people, especially in relation to the reduction of youth violence.

All applicants and other groups will also benefit from a wide range of our networking and capacity building activities.

We have had 4 amazing rounds of distributing funding to grassroots projects undertaking work in the community that is truly making a difference.

ALL OUR GRANTEES, THEIR PROJECTS AND HOW THEY ARE STRIVING TO MAKE AN IMPACT

  • 50's Elite

    Encouraging over 50s to volunteer with young people, establish meaningful relationships and share skills. This will give the young people the possibility of getting to know another adult in the community to be a positive role model, inspire, support and encourage the young people so that they have respect for the people around them

  • AFCNASAA

    The aim of our Football Project is to be able to transform at risk young people's way of thinking by challenging their thought patterns through mental and physical activities.

  • All Starz Catering

    The food project will help take young people off the roads and show them that there are other opportunities out there. It will run by role models who have lived experience of being in the system and having come through it.

  • Brixton Street Gym

    Brixton Street Gym empowers young people on Angell Town to articulate and express their thoughts, feelings and experiences supporting their mental, emotional and social growth. It will also provide opportunities and a positive outlet to try new ideas, inspire new ways of thinking, coping with feelings and problem solving.

  • Brunch Brothers

    Sharing food as an incentive for young people to gather and discuss pertinent issues

  • Building Her...

    A 24 weeks preventative program set in 3 parts of learning, Building Her Confidence, Building Her Relationships, Building Her Aspirations. The programme includes making relationships with children and developing role models.

  • Celebrate Life

    Screening film ‘Power to Change’ as an option to help reduce violence

  • Champs Within

    Boxing sessions delivered in two secondary schools and in the local community with an aim to address the kids who more likely to be at risk and those who are needing more structure and guidance. Talent spotting boxing sessions using non-contact boxing method aims to instil discipline, work ethic, effective communication, team work and respect for all.

  • Circle of Life Ignite

    Monthly guest speakers on addressing youth violence and grassroots community perspective from mothers with lived experience and personal stories sharing their thoughts on reducing youth violence. Topics include - Trauma and health and wellbeing - Experience with systems and processes e.g. legal system . Supporting affected families, young people, engaging with statutory and other stakeholders.

  • Club Silly

    The project will run a series of masterclasses for young adults recruited from local organisations working to reduce youth violence. Topics include Finding your creativity, How to plan, produce and run public events, Lighting and sound production for stage and Indoor & outdoor performance skills. The project will close with a Club Silly performance scratch night that provides a platform for the young people to come together with practising artists, and an audience to showcase skills and learning.

  • Exceed Reading Stars

    The project will create opportunities to mentor young people to take on leadership roles and aid in focusing on their educational and career goals through providing experiences in a variety of occupational settings and career planning activities. Also funding the Achieving Beyond Capabilities project to support a pilot literacy programme delivered in Loughborough Primary School and Moorlands Community Centre. The project is designed to address the lack of literacy attainment among children from disadvantaged communities.

  • Happy Drums

    Using drums and dance as an intervention tool to reduce youth violence Happy Drums provides cultural workshops using over 26 instruments – encouraging participants to play and have fun while learning cultural heritage, new skills in drumming, dancing, self-confidence, discipline, listening, routine ant team work. Providing a sense of belonging and space to make new friends in a safe location where they can go to that keep them off the street. Food and mentoring provided at each session.

  • High Achievers Lab

    The project will help with inclusion, reduce isolation and teach young people how to make positive choices and have the best chance to succeed in life. They will also be introduced to different fitness disciplines and encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Girls only sessions are available and a focus on supporting young people with a disability in schools.

  • Home From Home

    Intergenerational work to provide stability and routine in terms of sharing home cooked meals, nourishing food and ‘safe spaces’ for children, young people to do homework and their families to enjoy activities together, building lifelong friendships and a sense of belonging.

  • Jumbo Prospects

    Use fabric and fashion design as a tool to engage and guide young people.

  • The Mending Room

    Use digital billboard as a tool to engage young people into various activities

  • Moorlands Resident's Association

    A series of activities to reduce the risk of violence young people on Moorlands estate and support them feel safe in their community.

  • Ndulge

    Foundation skills for starting your own business.

  • Remnant

    The project will create a youth printing, textile arts and embroidery workshop. This project will provide an opportunity for young people to explore creative activities in a safe and supportive environment, whilst potentially building a viable business for themselves.

  • Sisters Three SW9

    The project will use soap making as a tool to engage young people aged from 8 upwards.

    During the soap making process, they will embed 1:1 conversations on building confidence and entrepreneurship skills. Workshops will be creative and enable participants to feel encouraged and motivated as well as have a tangible product at the end of the course and feel a great sense of achievement. The workshop will also teach participants about money management plus how to sustain and organise your business.

  • SoulFit

    Fitness Workshops for wellbeing and strengthening ties between parent and child

  • The Music Klub Project

    The Mentors Hive’ is for young people who are at risk of reoffending and face multiple barriers to inclusion. It is a creative mentoring project which encourages young people to understand themselves and how to build their own positive personal brand.
