An exciting and pivotal role work with us on reducing youth violence in Brixton
Ecosystem Coldharbour is a consortium funded by the Mayor of London's Violence Reduction Unit as part of the 'My Ends Programme'.
The consortium brings together well-respected community organisations that have experience of leading violence reduction initiatives in Brixton and the neighbourhoods. Focused on Brixton North Ward, the consortium aims to address root causes of violence affecting young people and provide positive opportunities for them with a specific focus on tailored interventions.
The consortium is seeking a freelance Youth Outreach Worker who will focus on crime, gang and anti-social behaviour hot-spots in the area and help capture the voices of young people, creating referrals into the network for those who have traditionally not been able to reach. The successful applicant is likely to have experience of living in the Brixton area or somewhere similar and a demonstrable understanding of the issues surrounding youth violence and its impact on their lives and their communities. Having gained trust of young people is an advantage.
This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on the lives and futures of young people and to contribute to the ending of serious youth violence in one of the most severely impacted areas in London.
